Baby Shaykhah at 7 Weeks New
Typically, a newborn baby sessions take place when the baby is under 2 weeks old. The reason for this is that after this point the baby begins to grow and doesn’t naturally pose in the same ways. With that said we would never turn a baby away for being too ‘old’. Babies make beautiful portraiture whatever their age and capturing this precious time for the baby’s loved ones is priceless.
Baby Shaykhah’s parents are from Saudi Arabia and couldn’t find a newborn photographer there that could fit them in. As Dad is studying in Edinburgh, they contacted some photographers here but were turned away as Shaykhah was over 4 weeks old. I’m not sure if other photographers don’t know what to do with an older baby or they just don’t want the hassle of it. It is harder to settle an older baby.
I was the only photographer who would fit them in. I am always up for a challenge with older newborns. It’s sad that some photographers don’t take on older newborns when all the parents want is some beautiful pictures of their baby. While it is harder to settle an older baby, it is so rewarding when you get beautiful sleeping images. This did mean that I had to wrap baby Shaykhah for all of the images but we achieved the images that Mum and Dad wanted so much.
I am sure you will agree that baby Shaykhah’s newborn session turned out beautifully.
